What you'll need

  • A computer with macOS, Windows 10 or later, or Linux.
  • An ENET cable (OBD to Ethernet). If your computer has no Ethernet port, you'll need a USB to Ethernet adapter.
  • The car with the ignition on. A charged battery or a charger connected.
  • Internet on the computer during installation (Wi-Fi is fine).
  • About 15 minutes.
Shot: installing in Terminal

Step by step

  1. Download the installer

Use the button above for your computer. The file is saved to Downloads as wayglass (wayglass.exe on Windows); if an older one is there, delete it first. Have the installation code you got with your purchase ready.

  2. Connect the car

The ENET cable goes into the OBD port under the steering wheel and into your computer. Switch the ignition on and wait until the screen has started.

  3. Start the installation

Open Terminal (macOS, Linux) or PowerShell (Windows) and type the commands. Replace XXXXX-XXXXX with your code; if it starts with WG-, type it as it is.

    cd ~/Downloads
    chmod +x wayglass
    xattr -c wayglass
    ./wayglass install --code XXXXX-XXXXX
  4. Confirm

On the first connection the installer asks you to confirm that this is your head unit; before installing it shows what it will change and asks whether to continue. Both times type yes and press Enter.

  5. Wait for the restart

The installer restarts the head unit by itself. After the restart, Wayglass appears in the "My Vehicle" menu.

To check: ./wayglass status (.\wayglass.exe status on Windows). The last line says whether Wayglass works or is ready and waiting for CarPlay.
